87th Regiment

87th Regiment, United States Colored Infantry (Old Organization)

Organized April 4, 1864, from 16th Corps de Afrique Infantry. Attached to 2nd Division, 13th Corps, to June, 1864. Colored Brigade, United States Forces, Texas, to July, 1864.

SERVICE.-Duty at Brazos Santiago, Point Isabel and Brownsville, Texas, till July, 1864. Consolidated with 95th United States Colored Troops July 6, 1864, to form new 81st United States Colored Troops. Redesignated 87th (New) December 10, 1864.
