The Return March, Remolina

by Frederick Remington

Following his remolina raid, col. Mackenzie placed the seminole scouts in charge of escorting the 42 indian captives back to fort clark. Among the captives were Kickapoo chief Costillitos' and his daughter, who married seminole scout James Perryman. She later guided the scouts on several return expeditions into Mexico. On one occasion she tried to mislead Bullis and the scouts because she knew her people were being sought. However, her deception was discovered by one of the seminole scouts.
