John Kunkle, a WWII Veteran, served in the 4th Infantry Division and participated in the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge. He earned 3 purple hearts, 2 bronze stars, and numerous other citations.  Part of his duty was a sniper and he also cut hair to make money so he got the nickname of the "snippin' sniper".
